whelp, when I saw these lying around my fav junk shop in Virginia, my lamp obsession took over and I had to have em. Voila the result! The back story is that these were salvaged from a building in downtown Richmond that was being demolished and they bought them there. They date to the last quarter of the 19th century. I think they would be perfect for a library office or on a sofa table, but I'll let you decide!
